At Euphoric Birth Services I strive to provide holistic doula care that supports the midwifery model. I believe a woman knows her body better than any health care provider and we encourage a woman to become in tune with her body during the childbearing year. I hope to instill in our clients a deep trust in the birth process and in their body's ability to give birth. I encourage our clients to seek knowledge to make informed decisions and take responsibility for their pregnancy and birth. I am located in central Delaware.
What is a doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and provides physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Why use a doula?
A doula's role is to support the mother in having a natural normal birth. Doulas aid in reducing the risk of having an unnecessary cesarean, a forceps or vacuum-assisted birth. Doulas shorten labor by reducing stress, pain and anxiety. The calming influence the doula can have on expectant fathers is often as significant as her effect on the laboring woman. Every woman deserves a doula!
