Services We Provide

Birth and Postpartum Doula

As your doula I will meet 1-3 times during your pregnancy to help you prepare for your upcoming birth. I will stay with you during labor and 2 hours after birth. I will also do 1-2 postpartum visits to assist you in adjusting into your new role as a mother. Please see the Doula Service page for more detailed information.

Belly Casting

Belly casting is a unique way to commemorate your beautiful pregnancy and turn it into art. Usually I will cast your belly and breasts, the essence of nourishment for a baby. A belly cast is typically done the last month during pregnancy. This service costs $65. An additional $20 if you would like for me to decorate it.

Placenta Encapsulation

Normally placentas are treated as useless waste, but the multipurpose benefits might surprise you! Placentas are terrific for postpartum depression, fatigue, milk supply, decreased lochia duration, anemia and mood. Your placenta is prepared by the process of steaming and dehydration according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Afterwards it is ground into a fine powder and encapsulated. Placenta in this form keeps indefinitely in your freezer! I am very excited to offer this service; I attended a "placenta medicine" workshop in Denmark at a Midwifery Today conference taught by Cornelia Enning, author of Placenta: The Gift of Life.This service costs $175. If you live outside the Dover area there is a travel fee.

Childbirth Education

Offering a full 6 week series, a 3 week series and a one-day intensive course. Currently offering private in-home and group classes. A free birth ball is given to all childbirth education students. Please see the Childbirth Education page for more information.

Lactation Support

One of the most important things a mother can do for her child after birth is to nurse. The benefits of breastmilk last a lifetime for both baby and mother! Babies were born to be breastfed and it is their birthright. After birth we will stay with you for 2 hours helping you with breastfeeding. Lactation services are included within the doula service. Independent lactation services are available, please inquire regarding the fee.

Maternity, Birth & Newborn Photography

Pregnancy is a memorable time that should be captured. I offer a photo session during the last month of your pregnancy that lasts 1-2hrs. I take unlimited photos in a variety of poses. The photo session can take place at your home, a park, a beach or where ever you desire. More information about photography services.

Birth Plan Assistance

For those clients who are birthing in a hospital I encourage them to write a "birth plan" and discuss it with their care provider. A birth plan is not intended to "protect you" but serve as a platform to help you know your rights and options. I will assist you in writing an effective and concise birth plan that is easy for your birth attendants to understand.
